We started this program in 2006 when we invited some kids from an after school program to come to the airport on Saturday mornings to work on aviation projects. Now we meet on the second Saturday of every month from 9:00 am to Noon. Schedule changes will be posted on the "HOME" page and the "Local Event Calendar".
Any young person of Middle School or High School age can come to the airport and work on a number of different aviation related projects. There is no cost for this program thanks to the Don Dodge fund managed by the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation and the generosity of EAA Chapter 1364 members. We are currently building a brand new Zenith CH750 CruZer full size kit aircraft with the kids doing the work under the leadership of Chapter members.
If you know a young person who may be interested in this opportunity bring them to the EAA Chapter Hangar on Freeman Field, Junction City Municipal Airport for our next Wing Nuts Kids session. We post our Wing Nuts Kids schedule on the Local Event Calendar page. To be added to the Wing Nuts Kids email list please send your contact information to email@example.com .
The EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give interested young people, ages 8 - 17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. To date over 2 million kids have become Young Eagles. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of Flint Hills EAA Chapter member volunteers.
To schedule a Young Eagles Flight email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (785) 210-7500.
